The ‘Force’ is with staging provider, Staging Services Ltd, as it provides support for Reed POP’s, Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016.
UK based Staging Services were selected and contracted by New York based ReedPOP (part of the Reed Exhibitions Group) to be main stage and set contractor for Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016 at London ExCel in July… a transatlantic event that ReedPOP have successfully delivered since 2009.
Star Wars Celebration is the official ReedPOP and Lucasfilm event celebrating all things Star Wars, attracting fans from around the globe. Star Wars Celebrations are the largest Star Wars parties, featuring cast and crew celebrities, fans, costumes, music, live entertainment, autographs, collectibles and guest panels.
As lead staging and set contractor Staging Services were instructed by ReedPOP to design and build several large stages and sets with the accompaniment of all stage and set furniture; which in addition included the manufacture of a bespoke lectern, desk and chair for show host, Warwick Davis.
The stages included the main ‘Star Wars Celebration’ stage; a large auditorium stage with an epic 12m x 3m, backlit, elevated stage set – the ‘starwars.com’ stage; a giant 27m x 10m finished stage that housed a number of large film props and a Millennium Falcon film set for the ‘Star Wars Show’ live broadcasts – the Galaxy Stage – a stage and set built for hosting the Star Wars celebrity discussion panels.
In addition Staging services were also responsible for building both the Behind the Scenes Stage and the Collectors Stage, alongside a number of smaller supporting stages built for prominent show exhibitors and vendors.
‘ReedPOP’s Star Wars Celebration Europe was an extremely exciting event to work on – as it’s not every day you get to be an instrumental part of a global film phenomenon. Ultimately, Star Wars Celebration successfully highlights Staging Services’ ability to lead on large scale events as a principle contractor.
