Computer Aided Design and Planning
|
We have a company policy that all of our work whether we are installing Staging, Starcloth, Seating or Stage Props is worked out on paper first. From experience we have found such pre-event planning to be immensely valuable especially when the ‘build’ time for the live event is short as often is the case.
The Reasons Behind This Policy
- So that we can accurately check in advance of going to the venue whether the proposed installation will physically work out.
- We can optimise the production time. Valuable production time will certainly be saved on site if the proposed layout has been tested on paper and agreed with all partiers in advance.
- Floor areas can be designated either for construction or storage to minimise double handling of equipment.
- We can easily experiment with alternative layouts until the best solution is agreed upon.
- We can accurately evaluate equipment quantities.
- We can anticipate and resolve potential problems before work begins on site.
- CAD plans provide an accurate visual aid for our clients, the venue, associated contractors, local crews and for our installation teams.
- Many venues now insist that a scaled drawing detailing the proposed installation must form part of our risk assessment and method statement.
- The need to understand how other features such as furniture and fire exits will interact with the overall scheme.
